A visit to the planetarium is completed by a guided tour of the Astronomical Museum, offered by the City of Rome and carried out by young guides/entertainers, chosen from the students and recent graduates in physics and astrophysics of the University of Rome, all of whom are proficient in both science and communication. A visit to the museum, which is a particularly interactive experience, emphasising involvement with the structure itself, usually takes place after the show in the cupola, and lasts around 45 minutes.

The planetarium welcomes school children from academic institutes of every type and level, and from the universities of the city of Rome, the provinces, Lazio and the neighbouring areas. Over the years the planetarium’s catchment area has extended over an increasingly wide area, confirming it more and more as a national reference point.

Show for school groups are available, on request, also in English.

The Planetarium of Rome for all schools from kindergarten to university.

The Planetarium offers educational sessions for different age groups and professional orientation: a story-telling and a playful interaction and improvisation is offered to nursery school children; to elementary school children’s curiosity will draw their attention to the wonders of the sky; students from high school to college will get to know the star projector and the latest technology in sound environments made with rock, jazz, classical and electronic music, exploring aspects of astrophysics and cosmology with references to interdisciplinary history, literature and philosophy.
From the diurnal motion of the Sun to the lunar phases, from the Earth's revolution to the changes of the sky, from the Ptolemaic to the Copernican system, from the myths of the constellations to the structure of the galaxy, from the Zodiac to the precession of the equinoxes, from the evolution of the stars to modern cosmology.

Special openings are scheduled in the afternoon, by appointment only.
The show is followed by a guided tour to the museum of astronomy, booking required.
